The Julie Mittens are a brainy, hermetic freerock/freejazz trio comprised of Martin Luiten, Michel van Dam, and Leo Fabriek. Since 2012 the Julie Mittens and clarinettist Gareth Davis join forces for an exploration of noise around Peter Ablinger's Black Series, a set of 10 short pieces named after abstract painters using graphic scores inspired by their styles.
